Antique George IV Chair

Antique George IV Chair English Style

George IV chair, around 1800.

Dimensions of George IV chair : 93,5 H x 51,5 W x 41 D cm.

This antique chair is antique reproduction furniture English style formed during the last twenty years of the 18th century. The period designation derives from the Prince Regent, who became George IV in 1820, it is based at the outset on the French classical Directoire style, but the originality of the English neoclassical style is intense.

The simplicity of this model arising from the canons of classicism is emphasised by its cross-piece and the cut of its back. The design of the whole and the discreet sculptures make it a very topical seat. We can also recognise in it the simplicity arising from the aesthetic influences that dominated Northern Europe for a century (England, Holland, the Scandinavian countries…).

This charming Napoleon Stool occasional chair evokes an earlier style antique furniture closer to the 17th century. However, its light, almost airy appearance belongs to a romantic piece from the Napoléon III period.

Thin spiral twists and the assembly give a graceful, almost fragile impression. Yet this stool stands sturdily on feet which flare out at the base.

Egyptian Furniture : Tut Ankh Amun Chair

This Tut Ankh Amun Chair is an accomplished example of the Egyptian Furniture craftsmen's art in the New Kingdom. The arms of the Tut Ankh Amun Chair form two winged serpents wearing the double crown. Two protective lion's heads top the frontal legs and the four legs terminate in lion's paws. The back of the egyptian furniture chair depicts Tutankhamon and his wife in an affectionate scene. The king is seated comfortably on a cushioned throne while his wife stands facing him, tenderly touching his shoulders with one hand, while holding a jar of unguent in the other.
